‘Pulses in Impulse’ of Sujata

In the last two years of pandemic, artists and writers of all disci- plines have attempted to reimagine their language of expression, realign their though process, and renegotiate their position in the societal structure. Sujata Kar Saha having established her artistic output through abstraction in landscape for several years, have now liberated her sensory manifestations through a fresh spontane- ous series of drawings. Most in pen, ink and pencil, some infused with water colour with pen scratches, these drawings have given shape to Sujata’s burst of impulses through the flora-scape. The in- tricacies noticeable in its line and textures, and the intimacy of its sensory overlaps of hue, create an instinctive rush of creative energy, unmatchable to her prevailing premeditative paintings. This distinct series of drawings, weaves in the reasonable in the vulnerable, the journey in the incertitude, a method in this mad- ness of a pandemic, and the preservation of the fragile temporality. Therefore this series of drawings which has been produced since the last quarter of twenty-twenty and is being titled, PULSES IN IM- PULSE should be observed as the artist’s profound take on her free-spirited creative pulses, manifesting as the counter narrative- for dystopia.
