My artwork depicts the loving relationship between an animal and a human being. I personally witnessed this during the Covid Lockdown at a small town in India, called Rahuri. Makkhan The Herdsman, developed a close bond with his Buffalo, Rabadi.
Her patience, sacrifice and steadfast faithfulness motivated him through all his hardships. Rabadi’s silence communicates more than words. Similarly, through my art, which too is non-verbal, I wish to convey a story of close togetherness and comradeship. It was artistically challenging to use dots to create the complex textures as of the farmer’s bamboo staff, his shoes and the rough soil.Being unable to procure an even smaller sized pen, I decided to use larger paper in order to create the effect of miniscule dots. The rhythmic action of stippling became to me, an exercise in prayerful meditation, allowing me to reflect on my own life, on love and companionship.
